TRUSTe and APWG host the first "Phish Fry" Summit to discuss the approach to coordinated consumer education about the dangers of phishing and spoofing.

Join TRUSTe and the APWG for the first "Phish Fry" Summit.

On June 13, 2005, global privacy advocate and watchdog TRUSTe and our research partners at the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) hosted the first Consumer Education “Phish Fry” Summit in San Francisco, CA. Charles Schwab generously donated their facilities for the event. This invitation-only event targeted lead decision makers ready to take action and promote consumer education about the dangers of phishing and spoofing.

The goal of the Summit was to discuss the creation of a broad-based consumer education campaign to arm consumers with information, tips, and tools to protect them from being victims of phishing schemes and identity theft. Over the course of the day, the group examined the phishing problem and consumer trends, listened to the victims, reviewed current education efforts, and brainstormed coordinated consumer education approaches.
