We are pleased to welcome two new senior members to our staff:

John Tomaszewski has just signed on to become TRUSTe’s vice president of legal, policy, and compliance. He will be responsible for ensuring that TRUSTe programs are built on a strong policy and legal framework, and that our compliance efforts are thorough, transparent, and defensible.

Prior to joining TRUSTe, John served as chief privacy officer for CheckFree Corporation, a leading provider of financial electronic commerce services and products. He has previously provided trust-model consulting through a private practice since 2001. John frequently gives presentations on privacy law and policy, public key infrastructure (PKI), and secure e-commerce. Bar-certified to practice law in Texas and Florida, he maintains an active role in both the Science and Technology and the Business Law sections of the American Bar Association. Simona Nass has joined TRUSTe as senior product manager responsible for our Web Privacy Seal and Email Privacy Seal product lines. She will focus on expanding the programs’ value for both clients and consumers.

Nass brings more than 10 years of experience in the email-services industry to TRUSTe. She previously held high-level positions at Topica, Red Hat, C2Net Software, and Internet service provider PANIX/Public Access Networks Corporation. In addition, she was the founder and president of the Society for Electronic Access, a New York-based nonprofit organization focusing on Internet-related civil liberties issues. TRUSTe is also pleased to announce five members of its compliance and operations teams are now certified information privacy professionals. Marty Becker, Joanne Furtsch, Sallie Greene, John McNamara, and Michael Victor all passed the CIPP certification exam, which the International Association of Privacy Professionals administers, in July 2006.
