TRUSTe and Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) "Phish Fry" Summit
| TRUSTe and Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) "Phish Fry" Summit On June 13, 2005, TRUSTe and our research partners at the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) will host the first Consumer Education “Phish Fry” Summit at the Charles Schwab offices in San Francisco. This one-day, invitation-only event will target leading decision makers ready to take action and promote consumer education about the dangers of phishing and spoofing. The organizers’ goal is to use this summit as a first step in creating a broad-based consumer education campaign to arm consumers with information, tips, and tools to protect themselves from becoming victims of phishing schemes and identity theft. Over the course of the day, event participants will examine the current phishing problem and how consumers currently respond to it. They will also hear victims’ stories, review current education efforts, and brainstorm consumer education approaches. We believe that by working together and speaking to the consumer in a coordinated voice, we can make a powerful impact. Microsoft, e-Bay, AOL, Visa, MasterCard, Symantec, the Federal Trade Commission, National Cyber Security Alliance, Godfrey Q, and many other prominent organizations and agencies will be attending the event. The organizers are also seeking the advertising and marketing community's insight into campaigns that will effectively, consistently reach consumers. If your organization or your advertising partner is interested in participating in the Phish Fry Summit or if you would like to donate resources for the event, please email Krystal Putman at phishfry@truste.org or visit the APWG Web site. | | |
