Online Merchant Requirements for buySAFE +Plus Privacy by TRUSTe Program.

The Plus Privacy with TRUSTe program powered by buySAFE is a solution for online merchants with simple data collection and use practices to obtain TRUSTe Web Privacy seal certification.  The program is presented in partnership with buySAFE who bonds transactions of its members.  Merchants that wish to participate in this program must meet the following qualifications:

• Certified as a bonded buySAFE merchant
• Annual gross revenue under $10 million.
• Do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share customers PII with third parties other than Agents and/or Service Providers.
• Do not collect PII through their Web site on behalf of another company.
• Do not receive income from any third party for displaying targeted advertising on their site for the purpose of driving traffic to the third party’s web site.
• Do not allow third parties who are not service providers or agents to place web beacons or other tracking technologies on their web site.
• Do not share, transfer or release personal information collected on their Web site to their affiliates for the purpose of promoting their own services or products.
• Do not collect PII from children under the age of 13.
• Do not offer free downloadable software applications through the web site.
• Do not have forums, message boards, or chat rooms on their web site.
• Does not collect social security number, income level information, or health information.
• Does not use framing or masking techniques on their web site.
